Patch Radetzky Marsch - Nassfeld River

Russian Bridge Kessel-fall - at the foot of the bear falls, shortly after the Veil fall

Here you start your adventure at the legendary Kessel-fall at the Russian Bridge, once venue for the film Via Mala, where the carriage from the Russian tunnel comes crashing into the waterfall! Here after 100 m you have in the faster waters, the first mountain char in your view. Thereafter, you walk up between impressive rock faces and the Veil fall towards the narrow wooden bridge, pool after pool and the wonderful brook trout have your adrenalin going ...
From the wooden bridge it continues towards the Bear Falls, where you will once again experience hot spots with brook trout and char in this unique surroundings.

Peter has to say:

Shortly after the Russian Bridge, the first pools emerge and it continues further up were one pool after the other appears. It remains so till the end of the route. The very stony terrain does not allow for any bank growth, so the throwing is really enjoyable and fun. The fish are active mostly at the end of the pool. During the day more likely under the stones and so the fish are almost exclusively tossed from below, the one or other fine specimen should get hooked here.

The terrain is alpine and a beautiful challenge on about 2 km. Due to the constant amount of water here, one can almost always fish here. Dry fly or a heavy nymph placed directly into the spray is always a safe bet. Water span of 2 to 5 m, almost a bit trashy, reminding us of picture books for fly fishing “ Have a good catch” (Tight Lines).
